It is difficult to find a restaurant or a food store in Hanoi pavement because peddle people also go back their own family to get together. Tourist has no more chances to enjoy Vietnamese special traditional foods such as Bun Dau Mam Tom, or Hanoi rice noodle ( Pho). However, it is really interesting if you want to take part in the spring festivals there. We can know about the flower festival, a musical concert programme in around the Hoan Kiem Lake. Specially, you shouldn’t miss fireworks performance in New Year E’ve. It is really exciting.

As we know that Vietnamese Culture is very abundant and diversified. It is showed in all field in the life.  In Tet Holiday, one of the most important customs is “Mung Tuoi”. Everyone will give lucky money for family members, friends, and relatives expecially to children and the older with hopin

“Pho”- An Amazing Food you must in Hanoi!

  Hanoi – Phở – Phố

Pho or noodle soup is consider as the soul and characteristic of Hanoi’s cuisince. It is a pity if you have ever come to Vietnam but no chance to enjoy foods here, especially to Pho- noodle soup.

Hanoi noodle - phở

Hanoi noodle – phở

What is Pho? Pho is a Vietnemese’s traditional food that is made from main materials such as rice noodle, soup, which comes from cooking the ox bone, beef or chicken and other ingredients. A good bowl of Phở first requires the flavor of soup, along with taste of cardamon, grilled ginger and onion, all mixed together. Noodles must be soft and plastic. Next, brown beef is dipped into the hot soup, and finally spices, including onion and herb. Specially, Pho usually eats togerther with raw vegetable, so in the eating table can’t miss a dish of fennel, perilla nankinensis, mint leaves, and  beansprouts. The price of a delicious bowl of Pho fluctuates between 25 thousands and 50 thousands dong. Its price depends on kinds of Pho as well as time to prepair for this. I think that this price is not too expensive if you can taste a bowl of Hanoian’s Pho.

It is really funny when you can see a foreigner comes to Pho restaurants or walks in street. When comunicating with them, you should keep in mind that They can not exactly say  “Phở” as well as “Phố” words  in Vietnamese. “Phở” and “Phố” seem to be pronunced the same in their speech. Depending on their situiations that we can distinguish “Phở” is a kind of food that is typical for Vietnames

e’cuisine; and Meaning of “Phố’’ is street, a location. Therefore, let should be careful!

There are some types of Phở in Hanoi: Phở bò tái (rare beef), Phở bò chín (well done beef), Phở bò nạm gầu (beef), Phở bò sốt vang (beef and tomato), Phở gà (chicken). Depending on your taste, you can choose for yourself a suitable place with  a delicious Pho bowl. Specially, when eating Pho, most people usually use the chopsticks and a spoon, with many using the chopsticks to pile the noodles and meat onto the spoon to eat, but you can eat straight from the chopsticks and just use the spoon to scoop up the broth if you prefer. It is difficult to use the chopstick for foreigner tourists because of their esting habit. Therefore, this is a chance for to discover Vietnam country with all fields as well as Vietnamese cuisine culture. I’m certain that it is very interesting.

PHO is consumed at any time of the day, as well as the year. Hanoians can eat Pho in breasfast, lunch, or dinner as a main dish. No people fell disgusted this meal. Hanoians familiar with Pho as a indispensable thing in their life.

Pho is one of the most attractive foods you can find anywhere in Vietnam. Vietnam country is divided into three reagions with their diffences from climate, terrant, and natural resources. This effects on the kinds of available food and the cooking style of each region. In Hanoi, it is really easy to find an interesting place for tourists who want to enjoy a good bowl of noodle soup here. Going along Hanoi’s old quarters, you will see many places sell Pho. I can suggest some famous destinations for you. There are Bat Dan noodle soup is located in the Old quarter “jungle” – a famous local restaurants famous for its pho bo (beef rice noodle soup); Pho Suong is in the midle of Dinh Liet street; Besides, Pho 24 is famous not juist in Vietnam, but also in over the World. In Hanoi, Tourists can enjoy Pho 24 in 33 Hang Khay old Street, 12 Nha Tho Street in Hoan Kiem District, or some places in Dong Da, Cay Giay, Hai Ba Trung district.

It can be said that Pho is as a national dish of Vietnames. With the foreigner tourists who haven’t tasted Pho in Hanoi, if you have a chance to come back Vietnam, you should appreciate this special food. With people ever ate one, I am certain that you can be missed the special flavor of Hanoians’ Pho.

exterior of country. Dong Xuan night market as well as Hanoi’s old quarter are the places that tourists can not help coming to enjoy and discover.

Dong Xuan Market is a quite popular name with Vietnamese and foreigners. This name appeared since at the end of the 19th century. In 1889, two main marketplaces (Hang Duong street and Hang Ma street) in Hanoi were closed and replaced by the original Dong Xuan market. It is located at the Hanoi’s Old Quarter which is only 600 meter North of Hoan Kiem Lake. It is really easy to find for travellers want to come there.

Dong Xuan is the biggest wholesale market in the capital city where you can find everything to buy. Its stories

are diviced in to the stall for wholesale and small treaders who sale clothes or household products, and foodstuffs. The goods’ prices here is the needing considered problem. Liked other markets prices here are much higher for foreigner tourists. Normally, it is about 50% more than actual selling price. You have to bargain very well to get the right prices.

The night market was organized in the evening weekends from Friday, Saturday to Sunday. Coming there since at 6 p.m o’clock in the time market opend up, you will see it is really crowed. Vehicles prohibited and you must walk along the streets. It is a good oppotunity with  foreign language learners because there are many foreigners participated. You will more chances to comunicate with them. They come here to study Vietnamese’ culture as

well as to taste Vietnamese traditional foods, and enjoy traditional musical activities as Ca Tru and Cheo. The night market attracts locals and Foreigners alike.

The market is the oldest and largest market in Hanoi, so Dong Xuan market has to face many problems such as polution or social evils. Tourists shouldn’t take more money, and precious products because pickpocketing is quite popular. You should be careful.

To sum up, Dong Xuan market is a typical cultural character of  not only Hanoians, but also Vietnameses. It has not just trade values but cultural and tourism values. We need to preserve and develop those values.
